Case Study
Denise Fenzi’s Blog Redesign
Denise Fenzi, founder of The Fenzi Dog Sports Academy, also maintains a personal blog where she’s shared information on competitive dog obedience and dog training since 2011. When she decided she wanted her site redesigned, she turned to Click and Repeat for help.

01.
Logo Design
We began the project by working on her logo. Denise didn’t really need a logo for personal use, but we needed something that would give site visitors a sense of where they were and give the site a polished feel.
We wanted something that worked with the existing Fenzi Dog Sports Academy logo, so we used components of that to build a new logo specifically for Denisefenzi.com.
The FDSA logo had been created using a photograph Denise had of her and Raika heeling (below).

For the final logo, we kept things simple. I pulled the silhoutette of Denise and Raika heeling out of the FDSA logo and added Denise’s name beside it, all on one line.
Then we went with a dark purple color that we were using else where on the website for a consistent look and feel.
We used a clean, all caps font with the first letter of her first and last name each just a bit larger than the surrounding letters.

02.
The Old Website
After creating a logo design for Denise’s site, we started working on the site itself.
Denise’s old site was a basic wordpress template that focused on just the blog. It didn’t really allow Denise to add more pages to her site, or have additional pieces, and had begun to feel outdated.

03
redesigning Denisefenzi.com
I had Denise begin by identifying site designs she liked, as well as several she didn’t like. I used WordPress and the Divi theme to create three different homepage designs that she could provide feedback on. There were a few aspects of each design she liked that we ultimately included in the final design.
We migrated over all of her existing blog posts, so that she didn’t lose any content, and I created video tutorials which I embedded within the site itself to teach Denise what she needed to know about the new platform and so that she’d have those to refer back to anytime she might run into questions in the future.
Her new website uses lots of large images to show Denise and her dogs, without sacrificing a focus on content. We cleaned up her navigation menu along the top to make it easy for people to find the multitude of projects she’s involved with — from Fenzi TEAM training to The Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.
We also added pages for her books and her online classes to help long-time readers learn more about those options for training with Denise. Once we had the site looking the way Denise wanted, we planned a launch date and set the new site up on her existing domain. The launch went smoothly.
Ultimately, Denise opted to bring me and my team back in to maintain the site, make updates, and keep the technology running smoothly.
Testimonial
“I’m a busy person with a lot to do — that means I tend to focus on results and care a lot less about the details.
Melissa did a fantastic job of laying out straight-forward and well-vetted choices for me to select from. She was able to grasp the exact level of involvement that I wanted to have in my project and she included me at exactly that level; no more and no less. She was fast, efficient, and intuitive in determining exactly what I wanted, while maintaining a cheerfully pleasant and patient demeanor at all times.
I now have a website which is highly functional, visually appealing, and the addition of her maintenance program means I can pay even less attention to it…all exceptionally valuable (and hard to find) qualities in a contractor. I would recommend Melissa without reservations for any project that you want done professionally and efficiently.”
