20 Questions to include in your Google Business Profile Q&A Section

If you’ve read our previous posts on local SEO and finding local clients for your dog training business, you’ll have heard us talk about how great your Google Business Profile can be as a marketing tool.

And if you’ve jumped in (with our free GBP template) and set up your Google Business Profile you’re already ahead of the pack! But did you know there is one section that is frequently under-utilized, but can make a huge difference to your marketing success?

If you’re currently not making the most of the Q&A section of your GBP, you’ll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner once you read our guide.

What is the Q&A section of the Google Business Profile for?

The GBP Q&A feature is designed to allow business owners and their customers to interact by asking – and answering – questions. Google is all about business to customer relationship building and the Q&A section is the perfect tool to use.

Questions and answers (both from the business owner and other customers) are displayed in two places:

1. The Google Knowledge Panel

Here’s an example of a knowledge panel for a local business:

2. Google Maps

If you click on the map in the knowledge panel the map is shown in Google Maps with the info from the knowledge panel alongside – including the Questions and Answers section.

Why is this useful?

You may be wondering why this section is so important to your business success…

It’s because the questions don’t have to be generated just by clients – the business owner can also ‘ask’ them – and then provide the answer… Which basically turns it into a FAQ section for your GBP page and an opportunity to feed google additional keywords about your business, which helps more people find you!

That’s very useful indeed!

How does it work?

For your users to post questions, all they need to do is click on the ‘Ask a question’ button in the Questions & Answers section of the knowledge panel.

The business owner can respond via email notifications or their Google Business Profile dashboard. The user then receives a notification to tell them their question has been answered.

Other users can also respond to questions by either answering them or upvoting them. To do this they simply click on the blue ‘See all questions’ link in the knowledge panel to be taken to this screen:

Making the most of the Google Business Profile Q&A feature

Answering questions from clients is great, but by asking – and answering – questions yourself, the Q&A section can be set up to get you some added benefits. It allows you to feed additional keywords into your profile and Google. It also helps provide Google with context about the types of searches where they should show your profile.

It also allows you to address questions you commonly get from potential clients — like the types of training your provide, how you can help them, and where they should start.

There is no limit to how many questions you can have on your GBP page. We don’t suggest you write dozens but starting with four or five and then adding to them monthly works well.

What sort of questions should you use?

Use the Q&A section to provide additional information about your business.

To recap, for best results ask (and answer) questions that:

  • Cover common queries and concerns
  • Allow you to include common keywords
  • Help set you apart from the competition

Let’s take a closer look at each one…

Common queries and concerns

If you find yourself repeatedly answering the same questions, here is the place to proactively address those topics. Make a list of common concerns and queries (or take some from your FAQ page on your website) and use them to get your Q&A section started.

Include common keywords

Google uses the Q&A section of your Google Business Profile to understand more about what your business does, where you are, and who you serve. So, it makes sense to include keywords in your questions and answers where possible. Think things like, “Do you offer private lessons in [neighborhood]?”

(Not sure what a keyword is? Google describes is like this:

Image showing the definition of a keyword. It reads, "Keywords are words or phrases that people use to search for information on the internet. They can be used in search engines, search bars, and electronic databases."

Key words for dog trainers would be things like “puppy training”, “dog training in <geographical area>”, “dog training classes near me”.)

Set you apart from the competition

You can use questions to demonstrate how you’re different to other trainers in your area. By listing your qualifications, certifications, experience, training methods, guiding principles, or special facilities, in the form of an answer to a question you can tactfully blow your own trumpet without feeling icky about it.

20 Examples of Questions to include in your Google Business Profile

Below you’ll find a list of potential questions – with example answers – to include in your Q&A section. You probably won’t need all of them! Pick the most relevant five to include first, then add two or three more each month. This will have the added benefit of updating your profile to keep it fresh and ‘telling’ Google you’re actively engaging with your users.

Whichever questions you include, be sure to tailor the answers to your business and write the answer using clear, concise language and the phrases and words your clients actually use

1: Do you work in [service area]? (This is appropriate only if you travel to client’s homes. Don’t include it if you only work from a facility.)

2: Do you offer [type of] classes? (Again, only relevant if you actually do classes!)

5: Where do I start with a dog with no experience?

A: To ensure you get the best possible service we tailor your dog’s training plan to fit around your life and other commitments. To do this we have a three step process.

First we have a phone or video meeting to discuss your requirements, concerns and questions.

Once we’re both happy we want to work together one of our experienced trainers will create a training plan and schedule of sessions for you.

If you’re happy to go ahead, training will begin once payment has been received.

We do our utmost to make the training process fun and engaging for both you and your dog. This means we’ll be using food rewards and play to motivate and teach your dog what we want.

A: We use positive reinforcement training methods, focusing on rewarding good behavior rather than punishing bad behavior. This helps build a strong, trusting relationship between you and your dog while achieving long-lasting results.

12: How long does it take to see results from dog training?

A: Results can vary depending on your dog’s age, temperament, and the specific training goals. Some dogs start showing improvements within a few sessions, while more complex behaviors may take a few weeks or months. Consistency and practice are key!

20: Do you train service dogs or therapy dogs? (Only include this if you actually do this type of training.)

A: Yes, we offer specialized training for service dogs and therapy dogs. Whether you’re looking to train a dog for mobility assistance, emotional support, or other specific tasks, we have the experience to help your dog meet the necessary standards.

Be responsive

In addition to posting your own questions and answers to your Google Business Profile, it’s also important to promptly answer any questions your users post. Try to respond within 24 hours if possible and always comment on answers others may have posted to questions.

Google ‘likes’ to see businesses being interactive and engaged with their audience. Being responsive also clearly demonstrates that you listen to – and care about – your customers and clients. This will help people see you as friendly and approachable; two qualities every successful dog trainer needs to possess!
